What is a T-1?
A T-1 is a digital communications pipeline that is made up of 24 different channels. It connects directly between our main Long Distance facility and your office location, thus bypassing the local phone company's switching station. This direct connection is what allows for faster and higher quality access. T-1 carriers are the most commonly used digital communications access lines in the United States.
In the case of an Integrated T-1 for Internet and Long Distance, some of the channels are used specifically for Internet traffic and some specifically for Long Distance voice traffic. The Internet channels are used to pull information down from the Internet (transmit downstream) and send information up to the Internet (transmit upstream).
